In a time of cold formalism there is a need for an element which will inflame the minds and bear the embers of art far beyond its borders! Winter has come. Cold winds of aesthetics have blown and chilled to the bone a part of the art scene. And yet formalism is sometimes very boring; the more that somewhere under a layer of gooseflesh is a smoldering need to take actions that go beyond the graceful abstract compositions, rubbing the embers hidden under a surface of solidified lava. There is a need for an element! This year’s division proposed by the jury of the Grey House Foundation consists of five artists who are definitely closer to mud, the breath of the forest, and neo-tribalism masks than to the rough surface of glaciers and smooth non-figurative canvases. Behind each of the presented artists stands a strategy of engaging the subject with such intensity as the language of forms describing it. In the frigid atmosphere of rivalry they will have to compete to, coincidentally, take the proverbial cake.
